Resolve tourist tax differences for Booking.com reservations

Find out why the tourist tax for Booking.com reservations differs and how to have the correct tax settings updated.

Does the tourist tax on a Booking.com reservation differ from the tourist tax in our booking system? In most cases, this is caused by the tourist tax settings within Booking.com.

Booking.com manages tourist tax on a per-property basis. When a new property is created, Booking.com often automatically applies the most common tourist tax for the property's region. This setting is not updated automatically when the local municipality changes its tourist tax rates.

Why does the tourist tax differ?

If the tourist tax is not configured correctly in Booking.com, discrepancies may occur when reservations are imported into our booking system.

For example:

  • The tourist tax amount is outdated.

  • Tourist tax is calculated for only part of the group instead of all guests.

  • An incorrect tax rate or calculation method has been configured.

Update the tourist tax

The tourist tax cannot be changed manually in the Booking.com Extranet.

If the tax settings are incorrect, please contact Booking.com Partner Support. They can update the tourist tax settings for your property.

Once Booking.com has updated the tourist tax settings, all new reservations will be imported into our booking system using the updated tourist tax.
