Do you want to send and receive email using Apple Mail on your Mac? This guide explains step by step how to add an email account and configure it using IMAP. Before you start, make sure you have your full email address and password available.

Add an email account to Apple Mail

  1. Open Mail on your Mac. In the menu bar at the top of the screen, next to the Apple  menu, select Mail and then Add Account....

  2. Select Other Mail Account from the list of account providers and continue.

  3. Enter your name, full email address, and password. Your name is the name recipients will see when you send them an email.

  4. Configure the account using IMAP and enter the following mail server settings:

    • Account type: IMAP

    • User name: your full email address

    • Incoming mail server: mail.recra.net

    • Outgoing mail server: mail.recra.net

  5. Your Mac will ask which apps you want to use with this account. Make sure Mail is selected and complete the setup.

  6. Your email account has now been added to Apple Mail. You can use the Mail app to send and receive email.

If you are adding an existing email account, it may take some time for Apple Mail to download and synchronize all existing messages and folders from the mail server.
