Mailchimp: set up Google Analytics link tracking

Learn how to enable Google Analytics link tracking for a Mailchimp campaign and set a clear tracking title for Google Analytics.

Google Analytics link tracking allows you to measure traffic from your Mailchimp campaigns in Google Analytics. By giving each email campaign a clear tracking title, you can easily identify campaigns and analyze their performance.

Set up Google Analytics link tracking in Mailchimp

  1. Make sure Google Analytics tracking is connected so that data from Mailchimp can be sent to Google Analytics.

  2. Create a regular email campaign in Mailchimp.

  3. In the email editor, scroll down to Settings & Tracking or click the gear icon.

  4. Click Edit.

  5. Enable Google Analytics link tracking.

  6. Enter the tracking title you want to use for the email campaign. Use underscores instead of spaces, for example: easter_last_minute_april_2026_EN.

  7. Click Save to save your changes.

Tip for your tracking title

Use a consistent structure for the tracking titles of your email campaigns. For example, include the campaign or subject, month, year, and language. This makes it easier to distinguish between different Mailchimp campaigns when analyzing your data in Google Analytics.
