With discounts, you can automatically offer guests a price reduction, for example as an early booking discount, last-minute discount or temporary promotion. This article explains how to create and configure a discount.
Create a discount
Click New discount to create a new discount.
To change an existing discount, click Edit.
Discount settings
Open the General tab and configure the following:
Description: Enter a clear name for the discount.
Period: Set the start and end date of the discount.
Reservation period: Enable 'Calculate this discount if the reservation date falls within the valid reservation period' if the discount should only apply to reservations made within a specific period.
Discount type: Choose a regular discount, early booking discount or last-minute discount.
Discount calculation: Choose whether the discount is calculated as a fixed amount, amount per night, percentage or number of nights.
Discount amount: Enter the discount amount.
Relative discount duration: Enable 'Calculate discount amount relative to discount duration' if the discount should only apply to nights that fall within the discount period.
Discount label: Choose whether the discount should be visible in the booking engine.
Discount conditions
Under the Conditions tab, you can specify:
whether the discount can be combined with other discounts;
whether the discount is valid in combination with arrangements, seasonal pitches and annual pitches;
whether the discount applies to Channel Manager reservations;
the minimum and maximum number of nights;
the minimum number of guests.
Tip: Want to combine multiple discounts? Enable 'Discount is applied in combination with other discounts' for all discounts you want to combine.
Link accommodations
Open the Accommodation tab and select the accommodations to which the discount should apply.
Discount codes
Open the Discount codes tab if you want to link the discount to a discount code.
Enable 'Valid if valid discount code is entered'.
Choose whether you want to use one or multiple discount codes.
Enable 'To be used once' if the discount code may only be used once.
Add discount codes manually or generate them automatically.
Other settings
Depending on your situation, you can configure additional settings:
Administrative: Link a specific ledger account if required. By default, the accommodation ledger account is used.
Business units: Select the business units for which the discount is valid.
Rate groups: Restrict the discount to specific rate groups.
Important
A discount is only applied if 'Discounts are applied to this rate' is enabled in the rate settings. If a discount is missing from a reservation, we recommend checking this setting first.
