Voucher information

Learn how vouchers work in our booking system and what to consider when issuing a voucher after a booking cancellation.

The voucher feature in our booking system allows you to issue a voucher to a guest when a booking is cancelled. The voucher can then be used as a payment method for a future booking.

A voucher consists of:

  • a unique voucher code;

  • an available balance;

  • an optional validity period.

Guests can use the voucher to pay for all or part of a new booking.

Guidelines from the Netherlands Authority for Consumers & Markets (ACM)

The Netherlands Authority for Consumers & Markets (ACM) has published guidelines for vouchers issued when a trip, stay, or other service cannot take place.

Some of the key principles include:

  • consumers are often entitled to a refund;

  • vouchers must be offered under reasonable conditions;

  • the validity period should be reasonable;

  • any remaining balance must be handled in accordance with the applicable regulations.

Always refer to the latest information published by the ACM for the most up-to-date guidelines.

HISWA-RECRON voucher scheme

For businesses in the recreation industry, the HISWA-RECRON Voucher Scheme provides additional guidance. This scheme describes the conditions under which a voucher may be offered when a stay cannot take place due to unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances.

More information can be found in the HISWA-RECRON knowledge base.
